Last week at RR I had a great time climbing Epi, DOWT, Crimson etc. Thansk Vegastradguy for the information. We were the only one on Epi and there was nobody on the BV Wall when we climbed DOWT. I however have a couple questions:

1. On Epi, the last 400 or so ft of 4th and 5th class scrambling was in affect a bypass the headwall toward the summit, is there are route that take the more direct line? I'm assumming some locals must have done it or working on it. My guidebooks have no information on this.

2. What's with all of the tic-marks on the routes, especially on Crimson, even for the jugs. I'm assumming that's because other flakes/plates are not as solid so people might pull them off?

Thanks.

How do you expect people to really climb-by-the-dot now that these routes have been climbed so many times? My god man, you could end up lost in the wilderness for days if you didn't have tick marks to help you navigate up that sea of chalk.
