I don't have much beta on this now, but people are actively working to get more information on the future of the crag and hopefully steer it in a good direction.
Here is a quote from an email regarding the closure:
"... a local climber has had some contact with the project engineer and it looks like there will be some radical and massive modifications to the cliff. For example, 'Irving's Overhand' will be removed because it is 'overhanging and therefor unstable.' Who knows what other changes are planned!"
