I was hoping to do a climbing trip in the beginning of April and I was hoping Lovers Leap would be clear from snow. Is there anyone that's been in the Tahoe area recently that knows about the conditions, or has any idea what it will be like in 2-3 weeks?

I'm going to be out there at the end of March. Have you found out anything about the conditions. Basically, is it dry? Julie

Lover's leap is a high elevation crag. And it faces north. Assuming it isn't snowing, it is likely there will be dry routes there. However, because of the elevation, the north aspect, and the fact that the canyon it sits above holds a chill, I would personally not expect climbing conditions to be generally pleasant there in March and unlikely in April. There is still snow on the ground and on the summit.

I was at sugarloaf last weekend and there was snow due to the recent storms. Sugarloaf is southfacing and usually snow free. The north facing side of the Canyon, in which Loversleap is located, appeared to have a ton of snow and I imagine Loversleap is cold and wet right now. Who knows, if it warms up stuff may be climbable in a week or two.

Its always climable for the right climbers haha. I would plan for a mostly miserable outting, if April is the month and its a fixed time frame. May is a much surer bet. DMT

BTW, I live in Reno, and always need climbing partners.... you should PM me before you go if you want to trad climb together.

Never been to the leap in April where the weather wasn't unplesent and there wasn't a fair amount of snow around the base... Even in low snow years. Conditions are usually less than desireable until late May and often more like early to mid June.
