Please, is there anyone in Pennsylvania willing to take me under their wing and teach me how to set up a safe highline? I really want to learn, and it's aggravating not knowing anyone with the experience necessary to safely participate in the sport of highlining.
Why do all of the good highliners have to live out west?

Yea i'm east coast too wanting to learn. Iv learned all that i can from rc.com and slacklinebros. But i wanna make a trip out with the guys out west to see it all first before i attempt anything. Iv seen you around on slackline.com my name on there is orion

Im doing the Monkey Face highline at smith rock this weekend. I'll send you pictures of the rigging If you'd like. Alot of people have their own rigg and some think theirs is better safer ect than others whatever. But pretty much the one I see being used most commonly is a pulley block static line setup (more later). Use a tensioned double layered walkline, with a half tensioned 9 to 8 mil climbing rope tethered underneath the line (becuase yes, Its not uncommon for highlines to break) I like to have the half tensioned line on totally different anchors than the actual walkline. that way you're one hundred percent backed up.
Basically the block system is two double pulleys opposing eachother with static line pulling them together 4 pully set up. after you feed the static through the two double pulleys you can either feed it through a fifth pulley and then through a petzl traxion or just put it through the traxion (do not use a gri gri as the grab, trust me) anyways thats the deal. Always remember when highlining always back up EVERYTHING. Its a dangerous sport. Very different from regular groundlining.
