The Toronto Star ran an article Oct 28 titled "Climbing raises concerns for nature". http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/ContentServer?pagename=thestar/Layout/Article_Type1&c=Article&cid=1035773718261&call_page=TS_News&call_pageid=968332188492&call_pagepath=News/News

The Ontario Climbers Coalition is already discussing penning a letter in retort to the Article. The article is very one-sided and very biased, and doesn't even resemble responsible jounalism. Their quote is from a climber who lives 3000km away! This climber was ONE person in many, and doesn't represent the whole. There is no mention in the article of the clean-up work climbers have done, the meetings and parnterships we have set up with local authorities, and conservation agencies. Just ONE pissed off Warden, and a quote from a tourist! This is much like the poaching issues and hunting. The actions of one selfish person will effect hundreds of climbers who are willing to make compromises and work with others so everyone can enjoy the areas in question.
