Ok there you are (i being the smart one strapped on my headlamp before touching off) Lincoln Woods planned for Sunday if anyone is down for some bouldering. Hey Guys, I've go no climbing news...however...I did just complete my leg in the Tuckermans Inferno. Whats that you ask? http://www.friendsoftuckerman.org/...008_Welcome_Page.htm I rode the bike and only dumped it once on a downhill with some...ok a shitload of sand. I went from 36 MPH to 0 MPH really fast. Fun was had and now I'm going to lay down for a while. If I can move my legs tomorow, I might be interested in QQ or something else local. Is hammond dry yet? Well I hope y'all are doing well. Jason

hey Jason! too bad about the leg, heal up soon. hey, jeff and I had a great time at the gunks yesterday, I got another pitch of gunks ".6_with_a_roof" under my belt (thinking I was heading up a .2... duh). we also met up with Jeremy lasty night and had a sweet hang time after moving our campsite to the MUA. saw Cory, ALex and Jen too but bailed out while they headed off to climb. I have a couple pictures I'll post later.

Yup gunks was amaazing. It was really swell to run into OK, Core, ratherbe and burrito as well. Rob - after consulting the guidebook and the routes db here, I think I climbed the second pitch of Tipsy Trees rather than Minty. Oh well, it was an amazing pitch nonetheless. Thanks for being a super amazing (and epic-free) partner dude! ;-)

I really tried, tangling the doubles, I thought that would pitch us right off the ledge, but no. FAIL... here are three of the 5 pics I mamanged to take. jeff belaying, from just after pulling the 2-finger-pocket ist crux on on P2 of baby.. jeff stylin the Easy O chimney... jeff rappin baby that P2 of tipsy was kickin'. my shins ache, I am SO out of shape. I went by CR yesterday afternoon and coule barely get thru 30 minutes of traverse and highballs.

Nice guys.. great weather everywhere :) well.. i conclude that i'm in better biking shape than climbing shape at the moment. Friday I rode 25mi fairly hard before work.. then rode another 25mi over on Martha's vinyard with Kate yesterday with no trouble at all. Then we went to LW today and got spanked on most things that involved a bit of endurance. Might hit up the gym some night this week and then perhaps take a trip up to Rumney for the weekend if the weather looks good.

ahhhh yes, it was suddenly summer this weekend. It was great to see some fellow MA climbers out, that's for sure! Bright sun and warm temps sure made the day enjoyable! Robb, I'm glad you got back to the gunks so early in the season.

I'm glad everybody had a good weekend! Rumney was glorious on Saturday with temps hitting at least 80! Definitely got my butt handed to me and am way out of climbing shape. Managed to crawl out of bed this morning and made it over to QQ and practiced escaping belays on A wall. Great to be out in the incredible weather!

Headed to Gunks tomorrow morning with Ed, coming back up Thursday PM. Will be staying at the Gristmill and will be at the Deli Tuesday and Wednesday morning 7 - 7:30. If you are down there grab us for a beer or to switch up ropes for a climb or two. Good day at CH on Saturday. Cold weather Kevin and I climbed from 8 to 6. Didn't do anything too strenuous. Just kept cruising to get some early season trad mileage in. Everything is dry at CH with the exception of the Main Face from Post Road over. Although Post Road and Franny's will be doable soon. Thin Line will be wet for awhile as usual. Smokey's is dry and After the Goldrush and Bev's should be doable in a few days.

This is my last season here, so it'd be great to hang with as many of y'all as possible. One thing, though - despite the fact that I'm excited for it to happen, I'm not going to take any part in organizing it. If it happens to coincide with a day I can go, I'm in. But the last three events I've tried to put together have been complete fiascos, and I don't want to be the kiss of death on this one! Cheers, GO

It was nice to get out, but I wish I had been a part of the Gunks party. Maybe another time. As for Colorado, I haven't posted my trip report / pics from QQ yesterday, but my other contributor, Jeremiah, has just posted his first post on Colorado. He's a climbing guide out there now, out of Colorado Springs, if any one is interested.

So I was visiting the parents in Sharon, MA and I went to check out Devil's Rock (childhood memories and such). I saw that someone had set some Metolius anchors at the top. I figure its a long shot, but does anyone know who set them? Devil's Rock are two bolders about 15ft high on a trail at the end of Belcher St, Sharon, MA.

had a good session at CR last night, though my endurance and strength are low, but that's the usual for my first attempts at the CR traverse. only 4 other people there, a group og freindly n00bish guys on More Money, and a guy myn age (abotu named Brian) with whom I worked variations of the first corner/roof on the traqverse from the south end. was able to get to the key pinch on the .9 flake start of Almost Cut My Hair, but without a crash pad to protect the ankles that was a s far as I went. I did do the thin feet hand traverse from militant right over to the late-september ledge tho, and enjoyed that. unfortuinately, putting my boots onj my lower back freaked out and its killing today. the fricken herniated disc, never know when or what is going to cause a spasm attack. headed to the Drs today for some muscle relaxants, and then get back on the PT program exercises to maintain and strengthen. I've been lazy about them lately. felt good though, get the CR juices flowin' yeah...;-) I dig that traverse...

cracklover wrote: robbovius wrote: unfortuinately, putting my boots onj my lower back freaked out and its killing today. Sorry to hear it! Warning - from my experience and what I've seen of friends, the beginning of climbing season seems to bring on any back and neck problems you're susceptible to. One year affected a partner of mine so badly, it ended a 25 year climbing career, probably permanently. So if you're susceptible to back or neck problems, I'd strongly suggest that you do whatever it is you do to mitigate them as this climbing season begins. Cheers, GO this is the result of an 12-year-old weightlifting injury, I'll be paying for that moment of macho bullshit for the rest of my life, every 4-5 months. ;-) still I have been lax on maintaining the PT exercises. Bristolpipe, you gettin' all this? take good notes now! ;-)

On the heels of feeling ultra-weak at the Gunks last weekend, I will touch rock of some sort at least one weekend day between now and June's Yosemite trip. So, since I have to stay local this weekend, how about a trip to that oh so colorful outdoor gym they call QQ? Saturday. I can get there by 12:30, maybe earlier. Who's in?
