I have heard that Margheritaville is a great alternative to JTree. (less crowded, dog friendly, etc). Any thoughts?

It depends on what you are looking for.

If you want sport climbs and a place to do what ever you please, New Jack or margville is most likely what you want.

If you want to hang if a far more prestine area, then Josh is the place. Far better climbing, far more variety etc...

Cool. I have a couple JTree books. Any books out there on Marghville?

You're visiting from Oregon? If you want to go sport climbing, forget Marguertiaville. Go to New Jack City.

In Joshua Tree West, there are only ~45 sport routes. There are sport routes in Margheritaville, but there is no guidebook that I know of, and using the route database to find climbs will be difficult.

New Jack is your best bet for sport climbing, you can't walk past a rock without seeing bolts.

What planet do you live on? Joshua Tree is a major trad destination.

New Jack is a regional sport destination. Margueritaville is not a destination at all.

Ain't that the truth. The place is a pile.
