A couple of buddies and I were planning on trying and going to "The Underground" in Joshua Tree to work "Dark Matter" and a couple of other classics in the area this weekend. One of my friends has the J-Tree Bouldering guide which shows the area, but sometimes those topos aren't the most exact things. All I know is that you park @ Queen Mountain, then it's a little over 2.5 miles and 1000ft of elevation change, but I'm guessing the trail is less than well marked if marked at all. Does anyone know how accurate the guide is? How difficult the area is to find? How long the approach takes? Any other Beta? I appreciate any help you guys can provide. Thanks.

did you get robert miramontes guide book? it explains the approach pretty well. i haven't gone there yet, so i have no beta for you. try hooking up with a local or two. maybe post a partner thread on here looking for someone who has been there. you might be able to bribe them with a cold 6 pack or something. have fun!

Accurate enough. 4 on a scale of 1 to 10. About an hour if you're in shape and know where you're going. No other beta.
