I'm always happy when I place my #3. It's a little confidence inspiring and goes into fist to fat hands for me. I guess it's just one of those pieces that I like to look it and love to place.

Blue also happens to be my favorite color. Cool

I don't know why threads like this are made. It all depends on where you climb.

I didn't have a 3 inch cam for a while and did just fine, but now that I have one I place it on every climb.

I don't know anyone who has been climbing for a time that doesn't either own a C4-#3 or a Metolius small Supercam.
You're right about having one. Once you do have one you plug it everwhere.
I know a climb where a #3 or SC is the Bomb! High E in the Gunks!Laugh

# 5 for me is a wide fist.

That's a pretty wide fist... for me a fist is a slightly under-cammed #3 or mid-range #4.

I agree though that a #3 is mandatory on an average rack.

The funny things is that I kinda feel the same way about my #4 C4! Shocked

I figure if I'm going to lug up my old style #3 I have no reason to leave the new style #4 on the ground. They weigh about the same.

Without reading the whole thread, a #3 isn't offwith. In fact its sort of the top end of the range of a standard rack (whatever that means!). I place it on almost every climb, and it's always on the rack. Typically most people don't have doubles of a #3, but that doesn't mean I don't wish I had another. I think you are doing your rack a disservice if you don't have one!!
