I'm always happy when I place my #3. It's a little confidence inspiring and goes into fist to fat hands for me. I guess it's just one of those pieces that I like to look it and love to place. Blue also happens to be my favorite color.

I didn't have a 3 inch cam for a while and did just fine, but now that I have one I place it on every climb.

Without reading the whole thread, a #3 isn't offwith. In fact its sort of the top end of the range of a standard rack (whatever that means!). I place it on almost every climb, and it's always on the rack. Typically most people don't have doubles of a #3, but that doesn't mean I don't wish I had another. I think you are doing your rack a disservice if you don't have one!!
