booo. I literally just bought the 5 C4's for full price and you are right, now REI has dropped their price even further. Could have saved about $100....super lame.

Just return them and re-buy.

The gear was worth it for you when you bought it. It isn't worth less now. It's completely irrelevant what the price is some time later unless you intend on selling.

I agree! Something my wife taught me... if you find something on sale, ask yourself "Would I buy this full price?" If not, don't buy it. If you do buy it, be happy with the deal!

Take it back with the receipt. I don't know if REI does it but many stores will refund you the difference if stuff goes on sale within some certain time window of when you buy it.

I don't know about other stores but I'm pretty sure REI sends their returns to the garage sale, in which case someone will get a great deal on some unused C4s. And only REI loses out :) [edit] Nevermind, I can see what you're saying about climbing returns since the integrity can't be confirmed. Agreed with the above. Hopefully they'll refund the difference.

Nope. Climbing gear goes in the trash (or on an employees rack).

I am sure they will give you the difference back. If not ask what they would do if you returned them, and state that you are planning on buying other new ones. If they say they have to throw them out and you cannot rebuy them speak with the manager or write a letter. It would seem silly for them to let you return them, throw the ones you returned out. Then let you buy new ones.

Ok, so I don't work at REI, but close. When I say "return the gear and re-buy it at the new price" it's not physically returning the ones you bought and walking out with a different set. The way it works in the computer is it thinks you've returned them at full price and re-purchased them at the discounted price, but like a previous poster said, you should just be able to walk in with the receipt. It is state dependent, but in VT it is a law that we must price adjust up to 30 days...but to be perfectly honest, we'll usually do it whenever to keep people happy.

ahh, sorry for the creating so much drama when it all turned out perfect! I actually just chatted one guy and was like "man, I'm mad I didn't wait" and he said "no big, I'll refund the difference, one sec" and boom, all is now good. So in conclusion, backcountry rocks.

One time I went in there, and asked to look at the new master cams, compared them to some aliens I brought in, and some C4's. 5 minutes later, I ended up teaching that bastard how to place gear. I seriously hate REI. Masquerading as a CO-OP just so that they can fit into a different tax bracket. ANd on top of that, their employees don't know shit.

eh, I do buy stuff from REI as well. For someone who doesn't know anything, they seem like they know something. REI actually marked their BD C4's even lower than backcountry's so I might have to buy a couple more. Even though I haven't used the ones I've got yet...but buying stuff is so much fun when you're injured and can't climb!

Their gadgetry is all off....so many 200$ watches and GPS units, but not enough avalanche beacons. They have so much backpacking gear, and yet they never carry packs that are actually sturdy. They have a bunch of armchair mountaineering stuff, if you're into that. They have a Whole bunch of FUCKING OVERPRICED CLOTHES THOUGH. Anybody want a 90$ pair of long underwear? GRRR. I think the real issue is that their employees suck. They are good for customer service, and terrible for actually understanding the gear that they pretend to understand. That's how I really feel.
