Wife and I will be getting away from the kids at the end of July and will be spending a week in Lake Tahoe. Will most liekly camp the entire time.
We will nodoubt fill the week with MTBing, hiking etc.
I want to squeeze in a climb and will probably take her up Knapsack Crack. We will head there during the middle of the week.
How early should we arrive to avoid lines.
Also, any Beta on the best place to camp for scenery as well the the best Ski Resort to hit for MTBing will be greatly appreciated.

Northstar-at-tahoe is pretty popular for biking, but i really like the trails off mt. rose down to the lake- more adventurous, less commercial. Ask at a local bike shop. Also, the flume trail is gorgeous, but there is almost no gnarly downhill on it if i remember correctly. Look it up- the entire time you are far above the lake, with your left side a cliff drop as you follow the old flume.

for camping, try wright's lake which is on the same turnout as the phantom spires, a great climbing place. it has a great little lake there, and some cascading pools and hiking trails to hike on. I'm not sure what the availability is there, but worth checking to see. It's on the highway 50 side, and is also just below Lovers leap, the infamous climbing spot, and horsetail falls which is directly across from lover's leap. I've camped there many times and love it! Have fun, it's my favorite place! (Tahoe that is) |

Thanks for all the feedback. Most camping sites are booked...we lucked out and Sugar Pine had a tent site available for the days we needed.
At this point the plan is to climb at Lovers Leap early morning during the middle of the week. I think we have settled on riding the Flume Trail...as for picking trails to hike, we are going to wait until we get there to decide.
