I am looking at getting a new harness. I wanted to know if anybody has used the NEW Sama harness (orange color). Any thoughts or comments on the fit and quality? I would like to specifically know if the gear loops are going to be big enough to put a full trad rack on. I will be checking it out later today after work at the store but I just wanted some comments on it. Thanks.

Quality? It's a Petzl harness. I doubt it's low quality... Fit? If you're going to check it out, why don't you try it on? Gear loops? How much gear do you carry and how do you rack it? How do we know if you can put your definition of a full trad rack on it? Did I just respond to a rhetorical post?

Well, to be honest your questions sorta suck. Do you want people's RECOMMENDATIONS? If you ask some random people on the internet if a harness is going to fit you, and whether or not Petzl has quality harnesses, don't expect mind blowing high quality answers... For the record, I climb in a Petzl Sama, I find that while the gear loops are small I can fit what I consider an adequate rack on it for trad climbing, but I both slim my rack due to experience, and am willing to clip cams of similar size to each other to limit the space taken on the harness. The harness fits me extremely well, but do you have the same body size as me? Who knows? Maybe your legs are too big for the fixed leg loops? My above reply to your questions is completely valid. Just go check the harness out and see if it works for you. I personally LOVE the harness and plan on buying another in the near future...

i use a petzl sama, and it is the most comfortable harness I have used. I can fit (read "really squeeze in there) a full rack on the gear loops, but will usually be leaving some gear on the ground anyway.

Yeah, it's like bringing a small bag to the crag with the "if it doesn't fit, it's not going" mentality. Forces you to slim down on the crap. If you can't do that, and need the extra gear for peace of mind, it might not be the harness for you.

Best thing you can do is actually hang in it. I'd compare it to the Misty Mountain Cirque and Sonic and the Metolius Safe Tech All-Around Harness's as well.

Maybe this would satisfy him: "It fits great, except when I do this, then it kinda pinches me here. As for gear, I can carry all this, but have trouble if I also want to carry this."

I just got mine in the mail today! I like it, but who knows, its too early to really tell. I put my rack on it today just to feel it out. It comfortably held: 3 biners of stoppers, 6 alpine draws, 3 quickdraws, 9 cams, belay device, web-o-lette, and personal anchor. I was worried about the back gear loops not being big enough after i my girlfriend bought the female version and i noticed her back loops were really small. But the mens version has four nice hefty gear loops. Plus you can always put carabiners through the little caritool slot thingys for extra loopage.
