I'm planning a weekend trip to Enchanted Rock this fall. Its my first time there, and after reading the description on this site, it looks like it's going to be my boulder heaven. So, I need a guide book to help me along the way. I found this one on REI's website: http://www.rei.com/product/710747 but it seems to have bad reviews. I also saw a black and white one at REI (spiral bound) that looked pretty good but couldn't find it on their website. Any recommendations?

The brown guidebook sucks. Get over it, or find a local. The dome driver manual is no longer in print. Good luck finding that.

If you are looking for bouldering, Scott's guide (the spiral-bound one) is excellent. Way better than the roped climbing guide. But, more than most places, E-rock is conducive to just following major trails around and climbing the boulders that look good. The northern domes are less-crowded, btw.

Yeah, my goal is to stay away from the boy scouts and hundreds of other newbs running around that place. I figures staying to v5 & 6 highballs should do the trick ;-)
