Keeping climbing areas secret is stupid. If it's in a guidebook its not a secret.

My friend got every window in her car busted out just across from there at Mcelland Rocks a few weeks ago. Really sucks cause its the best spot in Spokanphetamine and I'm too spooked to ever go there again. ~Rob

i think there is an equal threat of getting your car broken into at any climbing spot around spokane. it is kind of a shitty city. on that note though, tum tum is ok. i wouldnt go out of my way to climb there again, but i had fun while i was there. i also had never been as scared on a crappy runnout slab route as i have been there... but the bouldering is better.

I agree about Spocompton. I don't think I've ever been as worried on belay than at Tum Tum. Good thing you are f'ing strong Tom. I think you would have taken like a 40 footer on slab had you fallen. Not to mention the back breaker whipper down low.

Although there is a up side; it keeps the place free of crowds. This has been posted for years. "I also should add that this Parking Lot Is Not Safe. Lower Life Forms like to brake in to Cars, and the Rangers are clueless on how to stop them. The better place to park is at the Day Use sign at 13.25 miles or at that sgin keep left for another .25 or so and there is pull outs to your right. Do Not Pull off too far this is were the Rangers do do there job and give out MANY PARKING TICKETS."

Spoklahoma has it's downsides, but I think it is a very cool town with some really nice people--not the ones who smash windows, other people. Roadstead, Is it safe to park off of the dirt road at the top. I heard someone was murdered there a few years ago but I don't know itf it is a rumor or not. Thanks for the info P.S. Is that the section of Hells Canyon near LEwiston/Clarkston????? ~Rob

roclimb wrote: Roadstead, Is it safe to park off of the dirt road at the top. I'm not sure what you mean by "safe" never had cars jacked until the Riverside State Park put up the gate and the fence.

Tum Tum has some great routes, and you'll usually have the place to yourself!
