Hi, I just started at BU as well, and I'm looking for climbing a well. Let me know if you've found anything promising.

I grew up in that area and everything is pretty much shale (loose and chossy) There is some good ice (look up a prof named Jim Pitarissi (in the math dept I think) He is a climber and will give you the beta you need.

There's not much in the area I'm afraid, but if you're willing to drive a bit, there's the Gunks, the Dacks, and Little Falls. Not sure which is closer for ou b/t the Gunks and Little Falls. There's a wealth of great routes at Little Falls, and the Gunks is, well, the Gunks check the routes database

Scranton is 45 min away in PA and has some fantastic climbing. The Lindseth climbing wall is an indoor wall at Cornell in Ithaca. there si some choss outdoor bouldering there as well. I have some scranton beta on www.paclimbing.com under the NEPA section. Will add more in the near future. ~Rob

I too just moved to Binghamton for school and am very anxious to climb. I've been to the Gunks a couple of times, but would like to explore more. I have not met anyone yet that are climbers! If you want to make some trips before winter let me know. Elliot

I'm more interested in what the draw to go to school in Binghamton is. I grew up there, and it really isn't all that attractive of a place.

I agree, its not attractive, but I got a sweet deal through the geology department to come and do a masters, they need a climbing gym here, especially since there are so many buildings for sale and unoccupied.

The appeal for me, as a poli sci student, is Binghamton's 18th ranked political science department, and that they are a state school (cheap). I had a scholarship to Albany's Honors College, and it broke my hearat to turn it down. They have free buses to the Gunks and Keene Valley.

I saw mention of a crag in Windsor. I'll be returning to good ol' Windsor for a few days towards the end of August for a cousin's wedding and would love to sneak off for at least a few hours to climb (indoors or outdoors). Any beta on where I might find said Windsor crag? Otherwise, is the nearest public gym all the way in Wilkes-Barre?
