I usually just take sunglasses, water, and a windbraker. What about everyone else? Any suggestions for those longer routes? Michael

I mostly sport climb, so I take up minimal gear. When I do go on longer climbs, I make sure to take up my headlamp, unless I am positive that I will make it down by dusk.

Would it be ridiculous to tell people that enjoy climbing a couple hundred feet off the ground with only some little metal wedges and a 10.5 mm rope between them and death that smoking is hazardous to their health? [ This Message was edited by: jaydoc on 2001-11-04 23:37 ]

How are some of you guys (or gals) taking so much stuff. Does all of this stuff just fit in your pockets? Most of the routes I have done are in Arkansas and they are mostly one pitch. so I haven't had to deal with this too much. I just stuff my pockets? What about you? Michael

Mike: I think People are telling you waht they take to the crag with them, maybe not actually up the routes with them. With the exception of Rrradam methinks

Ok, so you guys are telling me what you take to the crag? What about up the route? Maybe you don't take anything. But it seems that there are a few things we should take on longer multi pitches. What do you think? Michael

I got stuck overnight on a long route w/no gear so hear's what I'd take now: a headlamp, emergency blanket (silver), extra food, extra water, escape gear (rap rings/slings, etc...), extra rope (either climb using double ropes or trail one), fleece top (long sleeves) & definitely a first aid kit, enjoy, Mike

It depends on the route. For an "all day route" that pushes my ability, my partner and I might bring supplies in case of an unexpected bivy - food, down jacket, etc. On shorter climbs (still multi-pitch) i always take a light waterproof jacket, a headlamp, some granola or similar bars, a camera, water, sunglasses, smokes.... AW

Vid. Cam, a definate must. Good to make the big bucks off that highlights video. The 200x digital zoom is also nice for scouting out the other rocks. (Or that cute chick.) Camera, digital or otherwise. Camal Pac, and Sunflower seeds.
