What is it with people ressurrecting posts lately? It seems that every other thread I enter is from like 5 years ago. You see, this is what happens when you tell people to do a search. From now on, if you have a question that is not answered by a search than post it up, and all those internet wisenheimers can eat it. I for one, do not get annoyed by people posting stuff that's been discussed before. If you do, then you have too much time on your hands, in which case why don't you do something productive, like donate your time to a charity. If that's not your bag, than go climb. If your not really a climber and all you know how to do is to flame people on the internet, then carry on. I guess everyone's got to have a niche. Josh p.s. I predict someone will tell me to do a search, because this has been discussed before.

I do not have a real response to this right now. However, wait five years and I will blow everyone away with my insight.

Mods/programmers? Could this be added? d.

You see, this is what happens when you tell people to do a search.... Is it from search results or from hitting [>>] instead of [>] in the list of threads? Going to the last page, where everything is unread, thinking they're all new posts. Why not some script keyed off "Post Reply" that looks at the date of the message you're responding to, and if it's more than a couple weeks old, pop up a window that says something to that effect?

Josh- It's being done intentionally by people who think they're being cute. ed: It makes me a little sad seeing posts from people who have since passed on, but other than that, I don't really have an opinion.

This is something that's been discussed on other boards I frequent. If people keep rehashing topics, people tell them to do a search and to bump old threads. If people bump an old thread, people cry about threadsurrection. Basically, new people wanting to discuss a frequent subject are damned regardless. It seems the best tactic is to start with, "I searched some old threads, but I still wonder if..." Then finish with some self-effacing comment.

Its already an option, but not available when you use the search box in the upper right corner of the screen (red arrow). If you use the link to the Search page (green arrow in pic above) you'll get the option to sort by date or relevance (red and green arrows in pic below). A bit annoying that the quick search doesn't default to date, but it is what it is. Ooo - I didn't know that. And with arrows too! Thanks Aric.

I would hope that any given topic will have been thoroughly beaten to death within that time span. Cheers

But perhaps if you had done a search you'd have known that... which will have the same non-effect as every other suggestion that has been ignored for the past ___ years. they are still "working on" route database, photos and kill file. but throwing out ugly ass colors and stupid design changes that people don't want or like instead.
