I just remembered the time Me, my sister and my dad where climbing.

My dad was on an bolt anchor above and my sister on a 3 cam placement anchor at the bottom, I was in the middle dynoing to this huge ledge making playfull banter about my sister only having a 2 anchor belay. My dad was pissed, berating my sister for her week ass belay.

Then this bunch of amateurs above us started screaming and pulling out bolts and pro with their amateur ways.

They fell. They hit my dad first completely shearing his anchor with their rope. We all fell, Bolts popping like christmas crackers.
At least my sisters week ass belay held.

Dad was dangling with the amateurs roped to his waist.
THe damn amateurs didn't stop wiggling about.
One after the other my sisters cams startet popping out the cracks. *pop* *pop*
Dad "gnnnnnggnnn"
Me "stay still you amateurs"
Sister "The balay!"

Long story short: Amateurs decked, I cut rope , dad decked, sister pissed.

The huge manity of it all.

If I understand your scenario correctly, you were below your sister as this unfolded. When your sister pissed, that must have sucked for you. You lost your old man and got pissed on by your sister within minutes...

rough day, mate.

That is correct. As sure as the fake eagle soared the shit out of it's tether.

I might call "Troll" on this one too....cause of that BS arguing going on over in the bouldering posts...
But really....a 40 footer isn't so awful bad if it's on a low angled slab..... so really, what we need to know arer the full and exact details of this alleged "fall".

Having just said that, my longest "trad" groundfall was an 80 footer. Mixed ice climb. With 2 bounces. Verified by length of rope out from belayer. Landed well below the belayer, bounced on past him. I walked away, but with cracked ribs. OTOH, snow is a forgiving whipper mistress.

my first fall on gear took me to the deck- 10 or 12 feet- where I stopped with my feet on the ground and my belayer dangling right there next to me. The piece held, everything worked as it was supposed to, except for the part where my foot slipped. :-)

My second fall on gear came a couple minutes later, from more or less the same spot. I didn't touch the ground that time- and my third try on that one worked out. :-)
