So, I know folks head down to Potrero for a few weeks at a time sometimes, but has anyone gone down for a few months (say: Dec - April)?
What are long-term accommodations like? Can a person bring a camper and camp out with decent facilities close to the rock? Any warnings regarding staying there for several months instead of just a few weeks?
Just curious what peoples' experiences have been.

(and yes, I've done some research. I'm just curious to know what folks have done / suggest)

I'm curious to hear the latest. I'm pretty close, but haven't been yet. Still a lot of violence down there as far as I know.

Although i am by no means an expert on Potrero or Mexico, I have been to EPC a few times and traveled a lot in Mexico.
I was last there about 4 months ago. Hildalgo was fine, as usual. I don't know what the situation was in any of the larger surrounding towns. Potrero Ed would have more up to date info.
I have seen folks camp at Posada for months at a time. I have also met folks who have rented houses for longer periods for cheap. My longest stay was 12 days, but a lot of people stay longer. Again, I am sure that Ed could shed some more light on this if you PM him.

Yeah, not sure if it's going to happen, but I'm considering it over another option I have. Right now this is the second option if other things don't fall through.
I'll PM Potrero Ed to see what he thinks about long-term stays there.

I know several people who spend the winter. You can camp or you can rent a castita (cheap).

Yeah, just did.
Not sure I want to camp for a few months in a tent, so I'm kind of looking at some other options (i.e. - hauling a camper down there).
How cheap is cheap for the castitas, and are they close to the climbing?
We'll see what he says.
