Could anyone provide some details with regards to the descent on trash can rock (quail springs area)? I understand that its off the backside, but each time I've tried the descent it seems harder than people describe. Any tips? Thanks.

The simplest way on and off is from the left side facing the west face. There really isn't much to it. How are you doing it now?

Make the turn and pull into the back (south side) of the lot. Then there are lots of easy slab routes. Go left of them and follow the ridge of the dome, staying more on the north side. Never got harder than low5th from what I remember. Hope that helps......

If you're descending from the true summit of the rock, there is one psychological crux for beginners where you need to step across a two to three foot wide divide (chasm) in top of the rock. That's about all I can recall about anything weird. Curt

Yeah, it's a scramble off to the left, as you are facing the routes. The gap isn't that big, 2' or so, and shouldn't be harder than class 3.
