We were at the bird today and having a great day until a very rude cop gave use the third degree I was not rude at all and explained how it was allowed and that we were climbing and he said it would be nice if someone told us this stuff maybe someone should tell them

I have a feeling there aren't many Birdsboro cops on this forum. You should contact the police department. Maybe it was a new guy, or someone who just got back from a REALLY LONG vacation.

I'm glad I'm not the only one... It took me 3 tries to comprehend it.

Look at this from the cop's perspective; you crawled through a hole in the fence beside a "No Trespassing" sign onto a police firing range. Your defense, "everybody else does it".

Seriously, I'd really like to see some evidence that climbing is permitted or tolerated on the lower level. If there is anything in writing from the township or police, it should be posted on the notice board. If there is nothing in writing, then the cop is right, and we're all lucky not have been ticketed.

There should be some sort of sign, or someone should contact the cops at robeson township.

But who could that someone be?

Who said anything about arguing? You suggested "someone" should contact them.

Let's go back to the title of the thread. Does the owner of the land permit climbing on the lower level? Any proof?

As far as the lower slabs are concerned, i've often wondered about the legality of being down there. As previously stated, access involves going through a hole in a fence beside a no tresspassing sign. It has always been thought that as long as the police aren't shooting down there it's okay, but it'd be nice to have more concrete information. I would think the guys at Reading Rocks or whatever it's called now would know, as they always seem to have the most up to date info on the quarry. Perhaps an employee there would be a good place to start for clarification.

Edit for basic reading comprehension fail.

yes. Access is legal. Ted C. has a regular relationship with the town of Birdsboro. the area has been fully developed with approval the whole way. Only time access is limited is when teh police are shooting...which seems to be about twice a year.

It's not that I don't believe you, but can you offer any evidence? All I see, and apparently what the cops see is a "No Trespassing" sign and a hole in a fence.
