Still trying to narrow down a multi day hiking/climbing trip to the 'dacks.... just found out about the beer walls and they look cool. I'm a bit more experienced then the people I'm going with so I'm looking for a cool, scenic, relaxed spot to check out. Also somewhere I can do some slightly more challenging stuff and my friends can get their confidence up.

How is this place during the fall or late summer?

Also considering some DWS at Lake Champlain and spending some time out by Lake George.... good or no? Heard some good reviews just looking for other advice, coming up from Lehigh Valley, PA.

I climbed the beer walls many years ago and they were nice - as are all the climbs in that entire area near the Beer Walls as well - incl Chapel Pond, etc.

I was at the Beer Walls on Saturday (July 30th), and the climbing was quite good. Decent but not great views from the top -- but the base is in a tree and brush filled canyon, so the base area is not very scenic.

For a day of climbing for people not very used to it, Jewels and Gems would probably be a better choice. Quite relaxed, lots of space near the bottom and incredibly short approach from the road.
