I've just arrived in the triangle area for a few months; what is a good way to meet climbers to go on climbing trips? Usually, how late in the year is there good climbing weather?

thanks, sasha.

Check your local climbing gym, Sasha, as well as the CCC website: http://www.carolinaclimbers.org. There's good climbing year round within a few hours of you, Stone Mountain and Rumbling Bald to name two.

There are a lot of active outdoor climbers at the Triangle Rock Gym. The climbing here is year round like jung said. Right now, the climbing is good everywhere. In a few months it will be limited to a few cliffs and jung mentioned, but there is also a good amount of bouldering in asheboro as well.

Good climbing in NC almost year round. Unless it is raining, there is almost always someplace climbable for any temperature. Check out the Carolina Climbers Coalition (CCC) website. You'll need to be a CCC member to boulder at Asheboro, and it is well worth the small cost. Check out Triangle Rock Club, it is far and away the most popular local rock gym. You could certainly meet people there to climb with. If you are close to Chapel Hill, there is a gym in Chapel Hill Community Center as well. It has limited hours and (I'll probably catch shit for this) you are less likely to meet knowledgeable outdoor climbers.

This was going to be my input into this thread. It's a great gym, and there are some super rad people that climb there.
