The "rainbow rocks" across the river are on National Forest property and are, thus, open for climbing BUT to get there you must drive down State Ave, park near the tracks - making sure to not interfere with trucks turning around at the Pallet Shop - and walk between the RR tracks and the creek to near where the creek dumps into the river. The property on the other side of the creek is private but between the creek and tracks is owned by Alleghany County. Cross the creek near the river and scramble along the shore. A few bolted routes are there and much good trad. The private land on the other side of the creek was sold in 2010 and no one seems to know the mindset of the new owners.
