I have been trying to narrow down where I want to move to and Alaska is still on my list, I understand that visiting is the best way to get to know a place but a weekend trip to the last frontier is kind of out of the question so I thought I would see if I could get some opinions from some climbers on what it is like to live there. I would must likely want to live near anchorage for employment and entertainment opportunists.

DO IT! Alaska is SO much more fun than OH. My family is originally from OH :) we transplanted here in 89. What kind of climbing do you want to do? The Chugach front range sits right behind Anchorage, and is an outstanding playground for alpine.

I mostly sport climb, I do enjoy bouldering and I'm kind of a gym rat (love the atmosphere) I would love to try some alpine climbing with the right people, but mainly I'm just looking for a place that has friendly people and great community.
