sapiecha wrote: Just had to share.... enjoy! http://rockclimbinglife.wordpress.com What an excellent climbing blog parody! The posts and advice/tips are like a collection of all the bad n00b giving n00bs advice that we've seen on this site. It's hilarious! And the persona you've the author created with an ego bigger than Half Dome is masterful! The "About" page is a riot:
In reply to: "Hey guys, my name is Wesley Summers. I have spent the last 3 years of my life exploring the vertical world, i.e., rock cilmbing! I first started what would be a life changing sport at my local indoor climbing gym. This is a place indoors where the walls mimic the natural features of the great outdoor cliffs such as Yosemite National Park. I quickly excelled at the sport and found myself instructing people on such things as Top Roping, Bouldering, Knot Tying, and Safety. Recently, I have further grown as a rock climber and have taken my sport to new heights: Outside! Words cannot express how great it is to be outdoors on the rocks and being an example and inspiration to the climbing community. I hope to continue to make everyone proud, and share my gift of rock climbing to the world! Edit to clarify the authorship of the site.

Really?? Oh, and the way I wrote my reply I inadvertently implied you were the owner/author. Sorry. Going back to edit my post now...

(I hope it is a parody... there is a little voice in the back of my head that says, well, it is a LOT of time and effort to invest in a parody, but... it has GOT to be a parody. It is just too-perfect, in terms of compiling every single n00bly bumble into one smooth package of n00bledom.)

In reply to: For God’s sake, if you drop, scratch, or fall on a piece of gear — it should become a keychain, not something that you trust with your life. OMG. I have to go throw my draws away now... and my biners... I can't remember which cams I've fallen on... What about my rope? Is my rope still safe? Aaaaarrrrgh! I'm gonna die!!

The author does toe right up to the line of being NOT so over the top that you know beyond a doubt it is facetious, but yes, when they wrote that. thy went too far. Cams can clink and rattle on your harness, but they ought to be shipped with safety foam.although....maybe Wesley has come up with some gizmo that keeps those cams from scathing his nuts. Now THAT would be a subject for a Pro Tech Tip post1

I'm kind of scared that it isn't a parody/humour blog. Some of the replies in the comments... they just seem too real.

I think many of the comments are real - posted by those sucked in to the troll. The site itself however..... If it were just one or two outrageous statements or tips, we could think it was intended as legitimate (although written by a n00b). But when you look at all the blog posts in their entirety - it's just soooo much stuff that's over the top that it can't be for real.

It's neither serious nor good parody. It's bad parody. Climbsomething could do better after drinking half her weight in margarita. (Edit to say, and has.)

Troll or not he's fun to feed. That being said, the vid he refers to is an actual guy who believes what he says.
