I would have loved a handout on my last 9-month climbing trip, but instead of asking for free money I just did it the old-fashioned way: working, saving, budgeting, ect. Funny that people say they would never ask for money for a vacation, but they have no problem asking for money for a "spiritual guidance adventure," AKA hiking the PCT, or "supporting my country in a competition," aka pulling plastic for a day at the IFSC comp. There are vets in this country that are dying because the VA wont give them the care they need. Vets that gave everything so Americans can pig out at McDicks, get type II diabetes at 25, and lay big pipe on the Internet. How about we donate money to them instead? Just a random guess, but I bet that's a better use of one's donations... USNavy, you are an asshole. Maureen, I wish you all the best with your training and upcoming comp. Seeing you succeed at climbing is truly an inspiration and a reminder that the only real limitations are the ones we set on ourselves. To put it another way, YOU ROCK! D'aww. My grandma says I have to bring back gold, so that's what I'm going to try to do.

This Saturday was my birthday. I took a bunch of friends to the climbing gym with me that were all noobs. I got them all hooked and I climbed my first 5.11a's. Hope you get lots of good pictures there.

And if you have some real time to kill or want to listen in the background, here's the full finals from day 1 in 2012. This route looks much easier than the day 2 route. There wasn't a female upper category that year so I'm not sure where's they'd put us, maybe it depends on how gals do on qualifiers. Any advice on what to eat before so I don't puke everywhere from nerves?!? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZ9_DxPWvTk

Well, my fiancé said crushed Xanax in applesauce but I'm pretty sure she was half joking. Normally for me, plain potato chips help when my stomach is fluttery. I found this article elsewhere on RC, http://masterrockclimber.com/importance-pre-climb-ritual/ Is it going to be the same wall from two years ago for this year?

One of the things i miss the most about there. a good paella will take care of you the night before, too. good luck!

It felt like no individual move was harder than 5.9 but it was just so damn long and steep. Here's video of me doing the second qualifier, where I pulled ahead of my closest competitor- we were tied going into this. I totally got tunnel vision and went for a huge left rather than an easy right. https://www.youtube.com/...7A&feature=share And here's the link to livestream the finals tomorrow at 11 am EST: https://www.youtube.com/...amp;feature=youtu.be

You looked great. I'll definitely be watching live tomorrow. That wall looked tall as sh*t, can you imagine climbing that high corner on that thing. The tallest indoor wall I've done so far is about 40 feet. I've been trying to find rules and regulations for paraclimbing to see how they would designate me, I wonder if they would say I have too much of my hand still to be an arm amputee. Any who, good luck tomorrow!!
