2000 BMW 323Ci - great for getting to the crags, but once you are there... it's a 1. Can't put chains on it, so can't take it to the snow. Can't park it in Camp4 parking lot - door dings and bears... and do NOT get me started on speeding tickets.
It's pretty dumb. When I bought it I also had an '85 Toyota minivan with my boyfriend, which was the exact opposite - horrible to drive to the crags, but awesome once we were there. It had a pop top and a platform bed, and storage underneath the bed. 5" closed cell foam mattress, 4 comforters....
Sigh. Hey Stevi, can I have the van back?
Can't decide if the next vehicle is going to be a Tacoma or a van, but it's gonna be a 4x4.

A bitchen little machine. The front seats fold back and integrate with the back seats to make two flat beds (a little narrow though). If ya get cold, you can always start the engine, and crank up the heat - try that in the back of a pickup! The all-wheel drive has taken me almost everywhere I've wanted to go. (It doesn't get a 10 because of the almost!)

97' Honda Accord
1-2 People : 7, Fold down the seats and call it a day.
3 or more people : 3, doable with 3, anything more and you're better off in a tent or Under the car.
Upside, I get GREAT gas mileage

We have a plymouth mini van. Take the bench seats out,leaving only front buckets. Our cots fit behind the seats. The cots are 13 inches high so all our cooking,climbing gear,etc. fits under the cots. Air matresses and sleeping bags on top of the cots are almost like home. I have yet to do it ,but have thought of cutting netting to fit and velcro it over windows for fresh air without bugs. Love it.

Seeing as that i am 16 and have no license i can only say this... No car is can be a good substitute for hiking out and making a camp with all your friends...........i give that a 10........ wait no no no i want a car

'99 Nissan 4WD X-Cab PU. No topper yet but my Walrus tent fits perfectly in the bed, a set of bungee cords attached to the wheel wells hold the rainfly in place. I prefer not using a tent even when backpacking as long as the weather holds. Overall I rate my truck an 8 for comfort.

I love my '78 fj40
It'll get me anywhere and carries alot of gear. The downside is I can't sleep in it.
Oh well, on rainy nights it's either put up a tent, crawl under pine boughs or sleep under the cruiser(plenty of ground clearance)

my '94 blazer is my favorite automobile i have ever owned. but wait, its my first car, and probably my only car for quite some time. but it sleeps 2 great, and 3 if your all close friends, 4 if your into that sort of thing

Got my 2001 Subaru Forester which I will try out for the first time at JTree this weekend. I am 6'2" and if I sleep diagonal or lean the front seats forward a little I should be fine, but we shall see.

Mine gets a 0.
I have a 1965 Mustang. The back seat is tiny, and the front seats don't recline, so you would have to sleep sitting up.
She's not really the type of car you think of when you think of a climbers car, but she gets me there fast and in style..

I rate my '95 4Runner an 8. Plenty of room width-wise for two, and long enough to leave the gate closed if you're under 5'10". Drop the gate down for fresh air or to extend the length to accomodate taller companions.

Hmmm...never tried sleeping in mine yet. It's a Saturn SC-1 coupe, I guess I could lay the back seats down and sleep in the back but I always make sure I have my tent with me whenever I leave town. Unfortunately I don't have good road tripping wheels. Hell, it barely holds all my stuff when I go out for long weekends in Josh haha!

i got me an old ford with a shell. i built a setup, my own design. i can sleep four in the back, two, or by myself. i also even have room for two dogs too, and place to store $#!& and cook inside. i have lived in my truck for quite some time now and have no complaint. i would have to give myself an 8 on that. by the way, i don't put plywood over the wheel. i think that method sucks. can't even sit up. in mine, i can sit, lay, and not even hit my head on the shell.

I wouldn't even consider sleeping in my car unless I was stranded in the middle of nowhere. I've fallen asleep in my car once. Unfortunatley I was driving at the time.

Yeah, seriously --- my Jeep Wrangler scores a low 0 as in zero.
Score has potential to rise depending on how many naked people are in there, though. Preferably a good mix of male/female...but on the road, I gues you take what you can get....

never slept in my '73 Buick Riviera, but my guess is that the rating would be low, until I get the time and money to fix it up. Both windows on both sides roll down, and also the bar between them, leaving the whole side open, but the window on the driver's door doesn't quite align with the rear window, so there's a half-inch gap, which could lead to breezy, or even wet situations.

i have a chev caprice.....big car! i had to sleep in it one time when i was camping at the beach and a HUGE HUGE HUGE storm came through. it sleeps 2 people nicely.

Gotta love my Grand Prix.. very nicely sleep two, or depending 3 perhaps, girlfriend snuggles up on the seat with you, you can get 1 more in there... not as cool as the VW camper van that my buddy had, those are the total bomb, i'll give the grand prix an 8 for style and overall comfort.

Subaru sation wagon a 6. You can fold down the back seat, lengtheining the trunk and making a comfy seven foot long. four foot wide bed. Perfect for two. Its even pretty soft. 1 problem- this leaves no space for your junk, unless you use one of those dorky cartop carriers
