How big of a generator ??? A light up your house generator, or a run the coffee maker and tunes generator., I have access to a 5000watt genni, and a small 1200watt genni, which do you want ? They're both noisy as hell, I may bring the baby down to run my electric banki

count me in for the first weekend, seeing as how I have to work after that. HOWEVER, this is only contingent on the fact that I don't get called up to go to the "war". Don't worry I will only be on the hospital ship. We are "on-call" right now and could go at any minute. Erica

A note about this gathering in March. Franklin, which is located ENTIRELYon private land, DOES NOT need a dozen carloads of folks all showing up at one time. As it stands, there is a serious question as to whether Franklin will even exist as a crag by the time of the Gathering. And 67 people all arriving and wanting to climb at the same time or even in the same week is gonna make things pretty "close for comfort" at both Nelson and Seneca, since other people who don't know you are coming will of course be there at the same time. Just some thoughts. Good luck.

Who is involved in this situation & is the access fund involved? It says pretty much the same thing in the guide book I have but ive never had a problem with the land owner. Infact he seemed pretty nice. Dave [ This Message was edited by: jerrygarcia on 2003-01-23 08:33 ]

I'm a second semester senior now (hells yea!) so i might skip friday or something if people will still be there. let me know. thanks

hopinbig's friend...hey!! i for one am bringing my bouldering pad, i plan to have a guided tour with a local to the bouldering field...he did however warn me it is located at a higher elevation and therefore will be colder than the roped areas, it is located about 45 minute drive away, i plan on going, i have no problem waiting for you and kevin to make the trip on say friday...i do prefer a weekday obviously, the weekends i need to stay closer to the gathering. jonna: yes there are people coming and going all week, please refer to the first post on this thread for names and locations of people...if you have your parents drop you off, maybe someone can take you back home, you have plenty of time to plan, and abi and i are here to help in anyway possible

Ronin, The title is Nelson Rocks/ Seneca gathering. Always trying to stir things up, but never face the music. what FA are you claiming? What as a community can we do to save Franklin Ronin? If you would get over your Me vs Everyone else syndrome life would be easier... matt don't stop the scream

Uh, the lg generator sounds about the same as a landscapers lawnmower, the little one sounds like an idling VW bug (the older ones)

Ok everyone who saw Roninthorne's message- Obviously he has issues w/ me and I feel that he will get online and flame this, so take what you want from this and its results. Franklin as a crag is located on 3 sepparate parcels of land. The main crag, and perhaps redpointorfall can back me up here and fill in any mis-info, is owned mainly by a logging company and one family. Currently there are no issues as long as people are respectful and don't block the gate. The land across the river is owned by another family, which currently has no problems with climbers, though there are no routes over there at the moment...they just ask for no disturbances when using their cabin (ie supper low noise volumes from climbers). As for its being sketchy for the week of the get together for Nelson Rocks...unlikely. Local climbers here in Harrisonburg, VA tried to find truth to Roninthorne's comments and we have found none. Access is only dependent upon people being good natured and respecting the above wishes of the land owners. Now, Roninthorne is correct in saying that the parking area is limited. It can hold about 5-6 cars at max. No cars can block the gate going up the mountain...none. There would be some impact from a lot of people, but I somehow doubt everyone would go there for the day with two other spots (Seneca and Nelson, not to mention the seldom used crag, Smoke Hole[NFS]) being closer. However, those who do go (and welcome at that, unless we find out there is truth to Roninthorne's claim), then just try a little more carefully than usual to carpool and practice low impact usage. I hope everyone has fun and perhaps I will see some of you out there. If anyone is interested in a bouldering tour of 2nd mtn while here let me know...I'd be happy, though it can only really handle 3 or so cars (carpooling is key here). Cheers A
