Gear Express is the only gear biz I contacted that's come through with giveaway booty. If anyone has connections, let's see if we can come up with some more stuff. I'll throw something in myself. It would be cool to have drawings both weekends.

The Gendarme is not an option, I'm afraid. Somebody want to try BRO? Tonite my trans gave up the ghost. Walked 2 miles home over unshovelled sidewalks. I seem to be in a serious downhill spiral this week.

i asked at acme but i got no response. i was glad to hear gear express offered the gift certificate and i gave them a chunk of the business i am going to be giving these companies during the next few weeks. but acme is sooooo cheap sometimes i just cant resist. from now on i will def. look at gearexpress first. wish there was more i could do for that i think it is a great idea (not to mention a great opportunity for the companies...)

The last thing I would want now is car problems. On monday, I have to drive all the way from Indianapolis, IN to Leesburg VA for training, then drive down to NRP on the weekends. Good luck w/the car.

Check this out. I was clearing some files out of an old computer and found this topo I did of the left side of the 240' Stone Gallows wall. The via ferrata "headwall" section climbs the opposite side of the fin and tops out on the narrow crest of the fin, left of the top of the Stone Gallows route. The little dead tree on top was the original rap station for this wall. We pushed it off last year so it wouldn't fall on somebody :D http://www.wvclimbing.com/images/gallows.jpg

GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We have two broken cars (tie rod ends shot on one, blown turbo on the other). We also have a surprise bill (read: Revenue Canada, aka the Tax Man) that's shot every penny we've saved to come down to the Gathering!!!!!!! If it weren't for the swear word filter, I'd fill this entire page with fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck!!!! right now! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUGH!!!!!!! This means: a) we don't have any money to fix the cars b) we don't have any money to put gas in the cars to go to WV, even if they WERE fixed c) we don't have any money to supply spaghet during the Gathering d) I don't think we're going to be able to go, as I won't hitch. Where's my long-lost Great Aunt Tillie to kick the bucket and will me a million bucks when I need her? Is there ANY kind soul who'd be willing to give me a ride (sans Rob) from S. Ontario? I was hoping to go down for the week, so even if a Weekend 1 person would be willing to take me down and a Weekend 2 person would be willing to take me back, I'd eternally indebted to you. I'll even do the bulk of the driving if you want me to. Also, this means Anne needs one more person to cover dinner on Thursday or Friday (can't remember which, offhand). This consists of supplying something supper-ish that will feed about 40. Please, someone, step up to the plate on this one. (beg, beg, beg) AAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   Kate

In reply to: did it snow at nelson yesterday or what? or... how much did it snow at nelson yesterday? Not much yesterday, but looks like another 6" tonite. Katy - that really sucks. I feel your pain - I gotta get my truck towed in for a new transmission. Ouch.

Dont sweat the snow. Its going to be sunny and in the mid 40's all next week near NRP. Any snow thrown down by this storm will be gone next week. This storm is nothing. So little of nothing that I am going caving this weekend near NRP.

That's right, Dave. Don't sweat the snow. But bring gaiters if you have them. There will be snow on the ground.
