Ron, You may have him mixed up with someone else. He started working on his show career in the mid 1950,s and began the show in Canada in 1963 and moved to Pittsburg where it was picked up by PBS in 1968. He did not serve in Vietnam! Climb On

I remember when he received an Emmy award for his service to children's television a few years ago. The way he delivered his speech took all the focus off himself and put it on how special everyone watching was. What a kind, generous soul. The world is a little poorer today. k.

The Land of Make-Believe was always my favorite part. The reruns of the show do air, I know because I am known to watch them now and again. I hope that someday when I have children, that PBS continues to show those reruns. Thank you, Mr. Rogers. You are already missed.

 I am extremely saddened by the lose of Mr. Rogers. I grew up in Pgh. and actually lived down the road, so I can officially say that we were neighbors! My sister and I used to run past his home on a regular basis and he was always very kind. Not only did we grow up watching his wonderful program, we had the opportunity to know him. Also when we were in high school we would always sign up to do the tele-thon for the PBS station. So we would head into the station, and they set the phones up in the studio of the show. So we were always getting into trouble for touching the tree, or playing with the tracks running in front of the castle. Oh soo many memories. I always wanted to live in the tree   Best wishes to the family and the community!
