So I'm trying like hectocopters to build up my rack, got nuts, got cams, even made a couple bootleg pieces, but, have yet to gain the elusive hex..I like the idea of having two full sets, per usual for me but, I've never placed one..lame I know. So gimme the skinny on the ever spoken about hex, pros cons, slung, wired, blanks, brands, etc., etc.

Blah blah blah - what the hell can you learn about placing gear from an online forum!??? Hey Bonesz, I'll see you this Saturday, right? If you behave (and bring me lots of donuts) I'll let you play with my hexes. When placed really well, there's nothing I'd trust as much - not even a bolt. I'll bet they can even support my weight after I finish that box-o-donuts! GO

They are great. They are easy to place (people will try to tell you otherwise). They are bomber (like said before, I too would trust a solid hex placement more than some bolts). As for what kind, I have a set of the Metolius Curved Hexes. I like them alot. Two sets? I don't know if you need two full sets. Maybe just double up on a few middle-big sizes.

Be careful buying hexes online. I bought a set from climbaxe and I have not been pleased with them. They have really thick walls, so they weigh a ton and the holes are really big so you can't sling them with the thinner cords. As for hexes in general, I love them! As was said earlier, I consider them the most secure placements.

hexes are awsome, wired or slung? well i went with BD and then slung them. however i think that bd only makes wired now. the slung were cheaper then the wired and i love them. i place them all the time. i do not know about 2 sets though. start with one forsure and then see what you need.

Dudes, No there is DEFNITELY nothing better than sweet guilt-free gear. Except maybe guilt laden "found gear". To this end I offer the following - Wild Country Rockcentric Hexes. SUPER NICE - mine are slung with dyneema; I hear you can get the also in the wired format. I like my dyneemas, but I can see where the extra reach potential of a wired hex would kick ass. If you wanna save money just get #6, #7, #8. Happymondays
