----Oh yeah, not a cheap sport especially if you climb alot and have to buy gear and spend money for roadtrips. Since I went from being on the road to not, it's more expensive. Now I have two lifestyles to support. I must have spent at least 5 thousand dollars. At least I had savings."Had "But I had a great climbing year;nonetheless. :P . So How Much Have You Spent on Climbing, ???(in the last year) On What???

$0 so far if you don't include gas money. About $30 if you do. That's one of the greatest things about this sport. Once you have the equipment, it's pretty much free. I'm going to buy more this weekend, though. Probably at least $100 worth.

That is a lot of money. This is probably my last year I can weasel gas money out of my parents, so I will start blowing my income on transport pretty soon. But all through high school, my bookstore job payed for my rack and everything else... All income when there are no bills to pay.

The last two years combined, I have a running gear inventory for the last 2 yrs, majority of it was from this last year. The running total is $6862.00 apart from trips. Probably around $1000 for last summers climbing trip and probably another $500 for the weekends. Keep in mind I got into ice climbing this winter. I guess I shoulda replied in the gear addiction forum that came up this week. This year my wife has cut me off. I can understand why, sorta. Cheers

I've found bouldering is cheaper. All you need are shoes and a chalk bag. Maybe a crash pad, but I'm not spending that much money for one.

This year? Or last year? There hasn't been much of this year yet to really tell. Last year? Nothing. Was at home all year taking care of my wife and father. This year? Who knows. Trying to work something out for September. Otherwise it will be weekend climbing at Devil's Lake which won't amount to much outside of gas and an 18 dollar annual park sticker. Also, I don't need any more gear at the moment. I have a full rack and three ropes and considering the majority of my climbing at Devil's Lake is top roping, the gear won't get all that used either. Well, outside of anchors and the occassional lead. Next year on the other hand...

Lets just say climbing costs a lot less than a phychyatrist and Prozac to cure the depression that would set in when you realize how boring your life has been; a cardiologist anda quadruple bypass surgey to cure the effects of a sedentary lifestyle; and how much you would spend on loser non-climbing vactations to use up your free time, like going to Atlantic City with all the other boring fat losers.

This year... probly about 2200 USD. But thats a trip to J Tree, Red Rocks, Zion, a set of chocks, 3 cams, a set of nuts, a bunch of biners and slings, and gas. A lot of my gear I got for cheap because I work at a gym. Again still less then what I spent when I raced mountain bikes. The start up cost alone was around 2 G. No wonder I have no money.
