Is there ANYTHING to climb at or near Lake Bartlett ? I will be there this weekend and would hate to have to go 3 days with climbing at least a tree :) Rick

I am not aware of any established routes right next to the lake. May be some bouldering around. You won't be that far from the Mcdowell's, about a half hour ride from the lake. Plenty of climbing there, sport and trad, that would be your best bet.

Unfortunately Bartlett is a "dirt" lake as oppossed to say, Canyon Lake which is lined with sheer cliffs all around. Someone posted a climbing locale at Sheeps Bridge which would be just upstream from you, but as is, unfortunately, all to typical, they went no further than just submitting the name of the place. Anyhow, its going to be so darn hot at those elevations, that you're probably better off just trying to stay wet!

The McDowels can be fun, but at this time of year MORNING is your best bet. Once the sun gets on em, look out. It's enough to kill you and melt your shoes. Queen Creek is SOOOOOOOO worth the trip. Stick to the shade and with the wind it will almost remind you of Flagstaff... ok maybe not, but it's really quite comfortable.
