Do you use 1" webbing or 1" tubing... can either be used?

1" Tubular, and two biners to get a 3:1 mechanical advantage, finish of with a mule knot.
Cost... About $20.

rradam... thanks for the reply. Another dumb question, whats a mule knot?
Is there an online example or do I need to go find my old boy scout handbook? Or is there another knot book you would recommend?

so, im really new to this slacklining deal and i am looking forward to getting into it like you wouln't believe. but i am wondering the same types of things... whats the best kind of webbing? what qualities should look for other than 1" tubular? also, how long do i want it, being a beginner and everything? how high up should it be? and how do i get it tied to the tree? thanks and please pardon my ignorance, im just so excited!

Well after I got home from climbing this evening I decided it was time to set up my first slackline... I uses the method http://dod.xmission.com/...kline/slackline.html found here.
I must say, I'm hooked! I am able to get on the line without help and take 1 or 2 steps. Its awsome!

For mine I just tied a small loop (6-10") in one end of the webbing. I then use this to girth hitch it around a tree. I tied it with a figure-8 foloow through, because it was the only know I knew well at the time (remember to dress it properly!)
Then for the other end I tie a slip knot into the line about 2-3 feet away from the tree and clip a biner into the loop. I go around the tree with the line clip it into the biner and then pull. Add more biners to get a larger mechanical advantage. Then I just walk around the tree with the slack4-6 times and then tie it off with a knot.
I got 75' of 1" tubular and that seems about good for me.
