I'm fine, and I live in the upper midwest. Are you sure it's not just the NE and some of Canada?

All over CNN... Toronto, Detroit, parts of Ohio, Indiana, Pennsylvania, New York, Conecticut, etc... Pretty big. They're showing live vid of people walking home over all the bridges out of NYC. Lightning strike on the US side of the Niagra Falls Generating station, then subsequent trips over a large part of the grid. NYC is dark.... Albany, NY just came back online as I type. Lot's of airports closed.

I'm in Maryland. It seems not to have come south of the Mason-Dixon line.

My guess is a whole bunch of people just decided not to pay their electric bills. "Hey, they can shut ALL of us off, can they??" "oops. Oh, crap. I guess they can." :D

In reply to: Power is back on in a lot of areas, unfortually not at my house yet :( . Even more infortunate is that it is back on where I work  . No day off for me, and my food is rotting in my fridge. Fear not Rebbeca. Power just came back on here so there is a chance your place is back now too seeing as you are near my place. :D For those who didn't experience the blackout, be thankful. A world without power is a world without RC.com. And......Heavy traffic at every intersection, hospitals closed, no groceries, gas stations unable to pump gas, no stove to cook the food thats going bad, stinking hot nights with no rest, no light to read, no way to find out what is happening, radio stations off the air, helpless waiting, basic services in doubt, and a hundred and one other things you never thought about till you have no power

just getting back to normal here. last night was kind of weird and scary for that we didn't know what was exactly going on. you keep hearing reports it wasn't terrorism, but yet i was freaked out when it's non stop sirens going up and down your st. and the coast guard is traveling up and down the hudson with spot lights. kind of brought back bad memories. it took my roommate 6hrs to get home last night when his normal commute time is 30 minutes back to hoboken from midtown manhattan. he was one of the people that waited for ever in line to catch a ferry across the hudson. the thing that he mentioned was everyone was in good spirits about helping each other out. alot of people were passing out due to the heat and everyone was helping by passing around water to those who needed it most. New Yorkers make NYC a great place.
