It seems there are more and more of these "Rate my picture" threads. Wouldn't it be a whole lot more helpful to you and others to ask "please help me improve this shot" or "what do youthink about the exposure/composition of this picture"? The ratings don't help anyone, creative criticism is what will give you REAL feedback of how "good" your photo is.

You have a point, Krillen, but I already like this picture... and RC.com dishes out plenty of constructive criticism without asking for it... it's like a multi-level critique! I mean, we even get constuctive criticism on our contstructive criticism! I've got enough reading to do as it is! No... all I want is votes on this one... just enough to boost my ego, or shatter my artistic dreams.

Well, as long as you have the comments enabled, you'll always get those criticisms.

I just voted, and brought the average from 6.41, to 6.00 even... It is natural that you like this picture - you took it, and it's a pseudo-decent action shot... Unfortunately, the colors are flat - there's nothing in the actual image that conveys the movement he's in - if he was a statue, stuck in that positon, he'd look just the same. I would suggest a slightly different camera angle (the background/sky is a bit detracting), and for action shots, set your camera to take continuous pictures, and just hold down the shutter.. With an SLR, you should be able to get anywhere from 2.5 to 5 (or more) frames/second - which should give you plenty of pictures to choose from. All in all, it's about average for a beginner action shot. - d.
