Just finished some pretty cool functionality to help climbers find partners. We thought it would be especially useful when you are looking at a climbing location in the guide to have a list of all the folks wanting a partner for that location to be embedded right in the listing. So that's what we did. Of Course since this is a brand new feature we would like to get some folks to post up if they are looking for a partner and let us know what you think. The options are available off of the home page and under the members menu. Check it out Matt

or you could just put all of the routes at one place and have a single, but more complete, route database

Its true that a climbing route database is not a new concept. Many sites have done some version of one, this site included. How GetBeta.com's site differs is that the climbing information is the focus not the climber. On many sites the true climbing information is buried somewhere under a lot of other stuff. Not that that is good or bad, this is just different. And im a little biased cause Im the webmaster for that site. So, yes this was a shameless plug, but all your comments are appreciated.

Ya, great site. It told me there are no climbing areas in New Hampshire, New York, or West Virginia....... Silly me. I have no idea where I've been climbing all these years.

matt_rock: I think you may benefit from the addition of a bug tracker. I can tell you that area location links ( ../location_climbing.asp?locID=.. ) do not work at all on a PPC running 9.1 and IE 5.1. A browser sniffer in addition to a manual user entered bug tracker ( much like the RC.com system ) would be even better. Just a heads up.

This is how I started Rockclimbing.com back in 1995. But my website (rockclimbing.com) looked a whole lot worse than yours. What you see now is almost about 8 years of effort. I guess you could say I'm just slow. ;) Good luck. Trevor

Your site doesn't render correctly on Konqueror 3.1.3, KDE 3.1.3. I.e. the comment box flickers (sp?) around like crazy. Try to use a more OS and browser independent layout. Good luck.

ADODB.Field error '800a0bcd' Either BOF or EOF is True, or the current record has been deleted. Requested operation requires a current record. /climb_detail.asp, line 60 perhaps you should debug first...

You can choose to keep your email address hidden from the rest of the users. Thanks for your patience while the bugs get worked out.

There is currently no restriction on what words you use to portray yourself.

Hello rec.climbing users, Thanks to all of you that offered feedback to the "Web Site Critique" post made last month. We have made some significant layout changes based on your input and ask that you stop back and check it out again. If you have time please make a contribution to our free online climbing guide. http://getbeta.com Thanks Again

Yeah, you're right. Its not that there's no climbing there just that noone has offered up anything about those states yet. Someone will have to share something about climbing there for it to be listed on the site. Sounds like you've climbed there, got anything worth sharing?
