hey newbie here :D any tips on traversing? i tried to search for the topic but nothing comes out so i posted a new thread.... my thanks in advance guys

What are you having troubles with? my tips: -if you find a good rest.. especially no hands rest.. use it for all its worth. -the best way may not be at the height you're at.. look up and look down for better holds. -hand and foot matching helps get you that extra bit of reach for the next hold i may have more if you have specific issues Jake

Look at your foot, and where it is going, until it gets there. Then watch the next extremity as it moves, and so on... Agreed, sometimes straight across isn't the answer. Look up and down. Just when you can't crimp and pinch anymore, work on the jugs. Stretch before and after. At least this has helped me.

ZerO, "Matching" refers to placing both feet on the same hold (foot match) or both hands on the same hold (hand match). "Switching" is replacing one contact point with another limb...removing your right foot and replacing it's stance on the same hold with your left foot would be called a "switch feet" or some close veriation depending on who you're talking to. This is often done with an awkward hop and clumsily/frantically stomping the other foot into place. Others can make it look smooth as butter. Just takes practice and trust in your feet. I often use each of these moves while traversing. If for example you are spread out with one good hold for each four limbs, but need to keep moving left, it will often be that the next hold for you right foot is the one your left is currently on...in which case a match or switch is in order to continue progress. Now that I read this I realize how confusing it sounds. VERY simple once you get someone to show you. Hope that helps.

Crossover where you can. On most traverses I can cross over my feet or hands or both, and send the route more smoothly, and with less effort since I am moving across the route at a quicker rate.
