In reply to:
Both Huber brothers, Dean Potter, Peter Croft, Lynn Hill, and Tommy Caldwell (just cause he still rules with 3 fingers).
Except for the Huber brothers these are all Americans. These are the elite climbers of the world, but I wonder if they are the top 5 of the world?
So many places around this planet where there is this little unknown who is pulling down some Prolific lines, Unheard of F.A.'s in the Himalayas etc...

I nominate myself and my two regular climbing partners. Add any other random two.

These other people you...oh, wait...y'all...keep talking about might climb harder lines, but they don't make my time on the rocks any better. That's the number one criteria for inclusion in my top 5.

i guess it all depends on what u define as being the best climber ie: best big wall traddie, hardest consitant sport routes being climbed or being the biggest power mutant of a boulderer.

how bout the best all round climber in the world?

i would have to nominate dave graham, he has an incrediably impressive tick list for both sport climbing and bouldering, F**k that boy can climb.

on a side note: it seems that there's a lot of g0ddam hard sending goin' on over in europe that we never really hear much about, i guess what im tryna say is that its all relative.

maybe i'm alone here, but I don't think that Dave Graham and "All-round" really belong in the same sentance.

When I think of "all-round" i think, bouldering, sport, trad, big-wall, aid, AND mountaineering.

Mutants that pull down hard in all of the above? None that I know of. The closest I can think of would be the Hubers (apart from the obvious, I think they've done big wall/mountaineering type stuff in the dolomites) and Dean Potter (Patagonia solos anyone?)

On a side note, does it really matter? Trying to say the best climber in the world is like choosing the best fruit. I like bananas, you like oranges, but they still taste pretty darn good!

very true, for myself when someone talks about the "best" climber I will always lean towards someone mainly in the alpine, ice, big wall and not pay to much attention to sport or boulders, but like you say some like orange's and others bananna's but there all good.

Honestly...does this petty debating get us anywhere? Does it help you have more fun the next time you're on the rock? All it serves is to make me jealous... :D

I, of course am the best all around climber. I consistantly Boulder V0, can climb 5.4 Trad and am working on redpointing a 5.6 sport. Once I saw some one ice climbing, and have topped out on one mountian so far. But man, I'm the best looking out of anyone named as of yet... thats whats really important, right?
