After realizing the great need to announce, organize, and document RC.com member meetings, road trips, climbing competitions, and other types of events, I created a new event feature that will allow people to add new events. Take a look at official RC.com events on the front page. To see local events, go to the routes area. You can add new ones by going to the routes area and clicking new.
This is version 1.0 however. There may be problems and I know there are lots of enhancements we can make. I hope some of the advanced users can test this out for me.

Trevor,
I went through the routes DB, tunnelling down into an area - and noticed that, at the state level, it didn't list any events (yet), but when I then clicked on (i.e.) Enchanted Rock State Park - it would list ALL the upcoming events, not just ones in Texas/South Texas...
Is this correct?

Nope, that's a bug. It should only show events for that climbing area or gym.
