the marmot swallow...you can probably even find them on close out...

roomy, easy to set up and pretty light. I've had it snow 18" on me and there was no problem.

pretty bomber for the price...

I just ordered the REI Taj 3 this morning. It is a 3 season 3 person tent for $230. I sat out a couple of rain storms in someone elses Taj 3 and it was very comfortable. We had 4 of us inside playing cards and staying completely dry. Although I never slept in it, it did seem like it was actually big enough for 3 full grown adults to sleep in, unlike some other so called 3 person tents I have used. I have always been happy with REI brand gear and can't wait to get my new tent.

Dude,

18 inches of snow would crush the tent, maybe they got eighteen inches but not on the top of your tent....

I've enjoyed the Hammerhead 3 by Mountain Hardware. It has lots of room.
I've spent 4 days straight, in constant rain and had no leaks at all. I've had it ever since it first came out. It is not a backpacker tent. If you spend any
lengthy time in one place; you'll apreciate all the room.

Check out the Sierra Designs "Meteor Light". It is a huge 2 person, three-season tent.

It is less $ than a Marmot Swallow or Mtn Hardwear Hammerhead II. It is also lighter, but the other two are "convertable" which might be nicer in colder conditions...

For the money, the Kelty Cyclone is a GREAT tent. The previously mentioned swallow is nice too, but not worth the extra $$ in my book. Cyclone comes in two versions, webforce and regular. The webforce is nice in high winds, but not really necessary. Great sturdy 3-4 season tent that will keep you bone dry in any storm.

I would highly recommend the Sierra Designs Meteor Light.

2 person, 3 season. Near vertical sidewalls, generous vestibule, no-see-um mesh skylight, and a plastic clear window in the vestibule. Can be had at REI for $230 (and if you go this week and are an REI member you can take 20% off any one item). I LOVE my tent! I picked it up in 2001 when it was Backpacker mag's 2001 editors choice. I would recommend it to everyone! Here's the mfr's link...

i have a taj3 and it is huge. bigger than the hammerhead 3. i've fit 3 adults in before with enough room. its got lots of sotrage compratmetments and good vestibules. its easy to set up and reltivley small when packed well. if ya wanted a mountain hardwear tent, the lightwedege 3 is pretty nice too.
