Well guys, then wat i did yesterday should be called "MONU-MENTORING"... or if someone has a better name for it, and make it sound a bit historical. Climbed this 35 feet something monument which was built by one mughal emperor, was fun but chilling too (free hand). Extra adrenalin flow coz if the cops get hold of me then i'm grounded.

Are those guys cool ... If you dont want other peole doing the stuff you are doing, then dont talk about it. Or did they need this as kind of adrenaline er... egoline fix? Buildering is dangerous and ilegal, so dont be as dumb as i am! dont do it! even if its fun ... and best when your slightly drunk... and when your friend says something like "shit, this is a bank, theyre having cameras and such stuff"... why am i sitting in front of this dumb computer screen? qwert

I know of atleast a few Univeristies in Canada that have a Buildering club which is University sanctioned. Mount Allison, and the other one is either U of Calgary or U of Alberta. As long as you went through it the proper way, and stick to the guidlines you don't even need to worry about campus security. Even on the U of Sask campus where I go, theres some pretty wicked stuff. We opened up a window 2 stories up, and bouldered up to it, and we opened up another set of windows 4 stories up, rigged an anchor around a support pillar, and top roped that.

either those guys were misquoted and taken out of context (benefit of the doubt) or they're jackasses. anyway just down the road from UMD is a decent place called Washington DC with a nice canal tow path through Georgetown with great stone retaining walls. not exactly buildering in the sense of climbing buildings but these walls were built up. you could get some nice highballs or really long traverses. thin landing zone though, could easily end up in the dank putridness that is the canal.

DC has some sweet buildering, but the cops can be a HUGE problem, worse than elsewhere since DC is terror-target #1 and whatnot. PM me if ur in town and want to builder
In reply to: Sweet pics. I want to climb the crane...and I want pants like Sean Morales. :-p Golly gee, thanks! i made 'em. And theres more of anything in DC than buildings, its cranes...I've always wanted to hang giant banners off of some near my house...

lets not rip into these guys too hard...i'm sure we've all had our egotistical climbing moments...but the article was a bad idea...it draws WAY too much attention to the sport...negatively. Stuff like this needs to be kept on the down-low or it may ruin it for everyone else...hope something similar doesnt show up in my school newspaper. Climb on!

In reply to: In reply to: When I was 9, my dad took me buildering in Boston a few times. I think fear of the police coming and social services taking me away ended that fairly abruptly. sounds like a model father... dam straight

I already said this in another forum about buildering, but I think it's worth saying again.. "Anybody who's "buildered" (including me) has probably done it illegally a few times, but a word of caution...be careful, and don't be pushing the legal limits too far. If this happens, ALL climbers, not just builderers may wind up getting a bad rep much like skateboarders have experienced. The public is very willing to pass out stereotyped judgements which hurt everybody. I've learnt this from experience. I used to skateboard, and I know how bad it sucks when you get a total ban because 1% of the people are being Jack*sses...Thanks."

In reply to: Schluederberg said ropes are for wusses, and added neither he nor Brown uses a spotter.
In reply to: Sitting inside Stamp Student Union, they remarked on how they look at the campus differently since they began climbing two weeks ago
In reply to: "If you're thinking of copying us - don't," Schluederberg said. "I don't want to attract too much attention to this. I don't want them clamping down on free-style climbing."
