Has anyone else been on the routes on the James Bond Wall? They are the short and steep 3-4 bolt climbs on the east side of the canyon. Matt

While much of the rest of Maple is on the soft side, I've always felt the grades at Box are pretty solid. I haven't spoken with anyone yet who has thought otherwise.

Sorry, I'm talking about Box Canyon in Idaho, not Maple. I wish Maple was as close to Idaho Falls. Note: I'm humored to see that I am now a "Flash Guru". Hah! That's a good one!

Hey where is box canyon near in Idaho Falls? I work in I.F. and am curious where some good climbing is close to here. What grades are the climbs there at box canyon? You can email me as well?

Wrong Box. My bad. And here I was thinking that "James Bond Wall" was a different name for the Ammo Dump wall, which is also on the east side of the canyon and has short routes. Can't help you out with that part of ID. Only ever been to City and Riggins.

Box Canyon is on the southern end of the Lemhi Mtns., just outside of the small farm town of Howe. Great limestone, although, sharp and somewhat slabby there are grades from 5.7 to 5.13b/c. Not many people climb there, (yet). Routes have been there since the early 90's. The area is VERY sensitve with the BLM due to the pictographs scattered throughout the canyons. If you go, please tread lightly and respect the area.

So How do you get to the Box Canyon of Howe from Idaho Falls area? Do you plan on going there anytime soon? What is the camping access like and is there any topo for the area? I love limestone and trained for years in American Fork Canyon Utah and Santa Clara Utah.

My friend and I have a guidebook for the region coming out in July. It will cover the Teton valley to Pocatello. Box Canyon willl also be included. Take Hwy. 33 west from I-15 to get to Howe. Matt

i think for the most part that the routes there on the James Bond wall are pretty solidly graded. the only one i would question is the 11c called "Oddjob". I think it is a bit easier than 11c. but it is still a pretty cool route and worth your time to go and do. p.s. how safe is that threaded sling on the 12c in the narrows?
