I was talking to some people who told me about a place in Portland called Rocky Butte. I was really happy when i saw that there was something that I could climb that was really near by. Being forewarned about the highway noise and stuff I went anyway to go investigate. So I followed the directions perfectly to get there, I walk through the trees, and I can see the highway and look down and see anchors, but how do I tell what routes are what? What do I do? How do I tell where I am?

I found it most helpful to first identify at least one climb for reference (ask a friend) and then use the Tim Olsen book "Portland Rock Climbs" to navigate from there. I hope that helps.
