:( I tried to get out to sunset wall on friday, and I used the berry hollow approach. I'm not sure if I was heading the wrong way but the overgrowth is really bad. I am thinking about trying to get back out there on Wednesday, or Thursday if anyone is up for it. It will probably be some bouldering/ low climbimg. Just send an email Rosem@washington.navy.mil

Berry Hollow is the correct side of Old Rag from which to get onto the approach trail (the Saddle Trail). At the first stone steps head out left (North) into the woods doing a rising traverse until you hit a ridge of rock/huge boulders. Go straight uphill alongside the ridge (there's a faint trail from this point all the way to the lowest section of the Wall - the Arborist area) until you get to a nice flat spot in the ridge (150yds or so). Cross over here and traverse North again until you get to the wall (200yds).
Never have tried to get there during the summer, only during the winter and spring. Given my experience with the underbrush/stickers in lte spring it doesn't suprise me that trying to find it for the first time, during the summer, would be unsuccessful. The climbing is great there, though, and well worth the effort.

I was up there a month and half or so ago. There are many more cairns than there used to be. The first cairn is ~20' off to the left of the bend in the first set of rock stairs.
