So we all know that Russian aiders are the shiznit, everyone has said that a thousand times. But information on the avialability of these is pretty sparse. When is Fish going to release them, and how much are they going to cost?

try doing a search in the aid forum. i believe the problem is finding the hooks. Russ hasnt been able to find a fabricator/supplier for them.

I just wanted to share the knowledge with aspiring aid climbers:
This guy ships knee-hooks without etriers from russia:

he doesn't always list them , so write and ask. There is also a plenty of high level titanium gear. It the same company which makes the gear sold in US under "Ushba" brand.I've already got mine and they look really nice, with adjustable length and a hook made of titanium.

I haven't tried them but they look like a pain in the ass. They'll still blow in the wind and you have to reach down and hold them to hook in I assume?
Anyone tried these vs adjustable aiders? If metolius just replaced those stupid plastic buckles with aluminum I'd probably buy a pair of those. The yates look too heavy.

Yeah, I don't see a link for the tree you need to use them.
What's Fish's price on these? Anybody else making these these babies?
Rather stick with Fish if they were going to come out soon ...

Some words how we use Russian Aiders here in Russia. To use Aid-triers (slings with the rings) is convenient but in other hand it is slow.
The most popular way here is to use quickdraws instead of sling with the rings. Just clip 5-7 quickdraws in the line and you have a good ladder. Then you take the line of quickdraws and clip it into the climbing protection piece; then you clip the knee hook into the carabiners... Then you leave the first (on the top) quickdraw in the protection piece and clip the rope into it for protection. Then add one more quickdraw with the "line" and repeat it.
After that there is additional asseccories for Russian Aiders. It is "Cliff Hook". It is additional titanium hook on a sling. It is attched to Uralalp’s Russian Aiders by the narrow hole above the hook (see pix. above). This tool is very helpfull too.

You're doing well with the English. Chain of quick draws as your aid ladders? Wow! Never thought of THAT before. You guys think up some mighty crazy stuff over there. :wink: Stuff that usually works out pretty well, I've heard. Thanks for the tip.

Back from Chicago after watching the Cubs lose...... bummers
The aid trees are available from us... no hooks and cuffs, but buy those from the guy above. Trees are $25.00 each, Ti rings, full length, ready to go. Write them in on the order page at my site as they are not listed in the catalog.

Those look like really sweet leg cuffs!
I beleive the hooks are bigger than than the Trango one, which would make them easier to use with beaners and quickdraws (but maybe a little higher profile). Was there a picture of the hook that was deleted?
I can vouge for Russ's aid trees. They are solid. A real nice design change would be to have a sewn loop in the top of the aid tree that you could clip your daisies to. This would let you avoid the sketchy situation discussed here:

p.s. I love my titanium basic ascender made by these folks as well. You can release it under load like a grigri! That thing has 100 uses.
