At least you have finally taken off that silly "moderate centrist" mask you have been wearing for so long. It must have been getting tough breathe with that thing on. :P

Assuming the electronic/computerized voting machines actually work right. I know, always the conspiracy theorist. That's about the only one I actually don't see as too far fetched. I still believe it's gonna be a fair election, but I have a feeling there's gonna be shit from those, either faulty or rigged.

I hearby punish you with the finger-waggly face: :nono: If liberal means "I want a president who is more than a puppet," then liberal I am. I now hearby waggle a tongue -- nay, two! -- in your direction. :P :P Edit: Above post directed at my right-leaning friend, bluto. Hee hee!

count me in as a proud (bleeding heart) liberal, tree-hugger, pro-choice left wing "wiener".....I really wish Kerry would have referred to the shrub as a "right-wing nut job" just once during the debate!....

I am a partisan, that's for sure. And I am very much against damn near everything the current sorry excuse for a president, and his party, has done. But I am only barely a lefty. Center-left at most. Most of us in America get confused about those terms: America has no major left party. We have Democrats (Center to Center-Left) and Republicans (Center-Right+). Greens are Left, but I am not a Green. The Socialist party would be left, but they are even less prominent that Greens. Semantics, really. But it is good to see I am not alone :) I was very surprised by the amount of Republican noise in Community. :?:

In reply to: Assuming the electronic/computerized voting machines actually work right. The trouble with these infernally stupid machines is that a conspiracy is not needed. If the election goes off without a hitch, no one hacks the trivially hackable voting machines, no partisan is tempted by the ridiculous ease with which a vote can be changed, and generally, completely against human nature, everything just happens to go right, what then? The election will be contested anyway! Without any fashion of audit trail, there will be no shortage of people that will feel the election was bogus. Not a healthy way to run a democracy. The current crop of audit-less voting machines are a disaster of potentially epic proportions. Amazingly stupid. It is not only important that the election be fair, it must have the appearance of being fair, or it is just as damaging to democracy.

Well, I'm certainly not a liberal. That word has basically been twisted beyond recognition (same with conservative for that matter), and I cringe at being called a liberal because it might make people think I agree with someone like Clinton. I have plenty of opinions that do not fall in line with the left, but if I must be labeled, I prefer to be thrown in with that assorted cast.

Lefty Tim Bratten (yanqui) reporting for duty ... SIR!! But first I have to confess to something (thinking about thegreytradster's post): I actually did praise the Bushies a couple of times for the way they handled the Afghanistan invasion    Now that seems so long ago. Since then, it seems to me, just about everything Bush has done has been one big screw up. A cluster fuck, as Clint Eastwood liked to say.
