For those of you who don't know, an "Easter Egg" is usually a semi hidden feature that is embedded within a program or website and is often humerous. Apple has had Easter Eggs in it's Operating System since the beggining of time, usually just a window with developer names and funny stuff like that. Adobe has had them in some of it's programs as well (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc...) Well I found one today on rc.com that I thought I would share. Easter Egg: Go find a post that you wrote yourself (make sure your logged in). Now slide your mouse over the rope icon under your name and hold it there for a second. A little help flag will pop up next to your mouse and say something funny. Try holding your mouse over the thumbs up icon and the thumbs down icon. Each one has a funny little message. Has anyone else found an Easter Egg on this site? Remember that Errors are NOT Easter Eggs. Unless the error itsellf is an Easter Egg. Make sense? Happy hunting... -n

Glad to see that this brought a lurker out of the woodwork. Welcome mb brick. So how about from the man himself, are there anymore we should be looking for? Do you even remember putting these in or was it an alcohol and drug induced night when you coded these? Thanks anyway, kinda fun... -n Edit: I forgot about the phrases that appear in the upper left corner of a thread window. Not at all hidden and sometimes kinda creepy with the stuff it says. But sometimes it is disturbingly apropos...

ok... i can see this thread is going to peter out too quick... my favorite easter egg: used to work for a defense contractor back in the 70s. i worked on the hardware diagnostics for a computer that was installed on Trident submarines. The CPU (sorry all you non-techies) had 2 source (input) busses. If you entered my birthday and my (future) wife's birthday then hit the 'add' key, the screen would go blank and I would 'roll the credits' of all the engineers who worked on the project. Bummer was, those QA guys were too sharp. they found the code and I had to remove it before delivery :P

Very classy. Does it work in reverse? Can I get some of you folks to sign up to "free you-know-whats" by typing in "painful rectal itch?" Seriously now, I think that's really insensitive to those who have ever experienced a hemorrhoid. And to spin back to make a full 360, and as one who has posted a free iputz link, what's with taking ad dollars from tribalfusion (who is managing the whole free iputz "scam") yet censuring users who try to promote the site so that they end up *actually maybe getting their damn ipod?*

I just write the code, I don't sell the ads here. However, the free ipud site does say that you're not supposed to 'mass-post' referral links. Whatever the hell that means. I've had my ads turned off for so long now that I can't even remember what they look like. Maybe once we get our house in order we can drop advertisers who are particularly shady, but until then, we are contracturally obligated to run the ads that TF pays us to run. *shrug* Somebody has to pay for all of this, you know.

nice touch tim, its good to see coders still having fun, I used to know the egg in Office 97 Excel, theres a multicolored flight sim in there that flys you to the developers names, it really pissed me off because of all the crashes that application had, they could have worked harder on the function than the coolness of wasting 10 megs for ego gratification... keep up the good work

Then press tab once, hold ctrl and shift, and click the chart wizard button. You'll see why the world is at peace and stuff
