Its not "open" people climb there the ban is to keep most people out but it cant be enforced because it is public land and can not I have friends that have been stopped by police who talked to them about it.

it is not open, and it is a grey area for legality... I've been stopped a couple times by police when parking on the highway to go over there, and once by some county official... I fall into the loophole that my land is in the designated greenspaces area, (thank you incorporation of Damascus) and so I can legally access it... and they always let me continue as soon as they see my ID with my address.

with that in mind... I offer this, I have scanned the madrone section out of the old guide... I will email the entire bit if you ask. *NOTE* This is the work of Tim Olson, when Madrone opens for all again, and the reprint comes out, support the author and buy it.

Would you elaborate of this please? Are you saying you own the land? Do you live near to there?

I believe a new person to be writing a different and better guide.

Anyone who lives in the Holcomb, Carver, beaver creek, Damascus area, has the right to access any of the publicly owned "greenspaces" in the area. This includeds the south shore of Beaver Lake, the rivers north side of McIver Park, the Eagle creek logging park, The abernathy creek watershed, and Madrone... among others. I'm pretty sure that is what the person who posted above me was trying to say... ha.. since it's (free for some) it's hard to enforce it against everyone else.

Regardless of who makes the new one, (which i've been hearing about for a grip) the ones I've scanned are the work of Tim Olson, if it wasn't out of print, I wouldn't be giving it out to people.

Even if there are "no trasspassing" signs up? Because you are a "local".....you trump all?

Very interesting.

Did you notice the new anchor on Neavu Reash (not spelled correctly)?

I wouldn't say trump... but yeah... we trump that. I'm not even sure that it is just locals, it may be all Oregonians. or even everybody.... I'm just going off talks I had with the commisioners when they were incorporating Damascus, and we spoke of the protection, and access of green spaces. (which btw. was a bad conversation for the most part... Metro has plans to pave over several nice areas.)

Noveau riche has a new anchor? I don't think I've ever noticed an anchor other than the one I've used... which is up in that gulley... which I always thought was the stud variation...

Heres a fun fact, the last two times I got on windows of your mind, there have been bats in the crack... they stated squealing and it sounded like the rock was tearing apart... kinda creepy.

It used to be a swaged cable hanging off a tree at the top of the cliff. I replaced it last summer with rap hangers and bolts. Thank god…..that cable had been there for at least 15 years…..how scary it was to rap on that.

We also replaced the anchor to “Mind Games”.

Nice, now... I know this is off topic... but what can you tell me about table rock... I've done about 10 climbs there now, all that I am 90% positive were f.a. The place has SOOOOO many climbs there,

here is a map

http://www.maps.live.com/...ck.___&encType=1

and here is the summitpost....

http://www.summitpost.org/...1980/Table-Rock.html

the rock doesn't look like good quality, but some areas are amazing. with over a 1/2 mile of faces
I'm sure someone has climbed something.... other than us.

No, it's in Molalla. Kinda... We have a swimming hole up there, and started looking around, following the basalt line. We had a combo camping/adventure climbing weekend (on the upper molalla rd.), where I climbed straight into the middle of starburst (35 ft 10c) on the molalla river (is a well known spot) then did a day of deep water soloing at the Narrows (park at horse creek rd. follow the trail down to the cliffs. 25 ft high boulder problems over 30 ft. deep water ratings range from dirty v1s to clean v7s the harder the problem, the cleaner it is... go figure) then followed the rd up to table rock, which is a 4 mile hike in. All this, and only 45 min from my house.
